The table below lists all South East Asia-based development assistance programs in operation from 2008 to present, which have a primary focus on women's economic empowerment.
The drop-down filters can be used to narrow the program search by Country, Thematic Area, and Project Value. Additional program details can be found by clicking on a project title in the list.
Each program has been categorised to one or more Thematic Areas, or 'sub-categories' of women's economic empowerment. These Thematic Areas identify the facets of women's economic empowerment that each program aims to address. The first eight Thematic Areas were developed by Pereznieto and Taylor*, and these broad themes account for the majority of programs in the present dataset. The include: 1) Financial services, 2) Business development services, 3) Skills training, 4) Asset provision (both financial and non-financial), 5) Social protection, 6) Unions and fair employment, 7) Trade and access to markets, 8) Regulatory and legal frameworks.
In addition, two further thematic areas were added to encompass programs that address (9) Social Reproductive Labour, and (10) Gender training, research and mainstreaming, as these goals appear commonly among the listed programs, and are often integral to the achievement of women's empowerment. Finally, an additional theme - Economic empowerment unspecified (11) - is applied to encompass all programs that make mention of women's economic empowerment, but which do not provide sufficient detail to make a more specific thematic determination.
