Project description
The project aimed to increase access for Cambodian women to rural road rehabilitation and maintenance jobs created by the ADBfinanced Rural Road Improvement Project, which upgraded about 500 kilometers of rural roads in seven provinces. The project developed and tested gender training manuals and behavior change materials under the Ready for Roads brand, trained trainers to work with national and local government officials, worked with road contractors and rural community members, and supported communes to develop registration lists for local residents interested in rural road construction jobs.

Output 1: Rural women demonstrate increased demand for rural road construction & maintenance
jobs;
Output 2: Rural road contractors hire more women, and monitor and report sex-disaggregated
employment data;
Output 3: MRD's SEO and PDRDs have increased capacity for gender mainstreaming in rural road
projects.
