Project evaluation
Evaluation source
Poverty and Social Impact Assessment commissioned by the implementing agency produced in March 2010. The poverty and social impact assessment comprises the end-of-project evaluation. The information came from the review of documents generated by the projectand field information coming from a household survey of 180 project beneficiaries, key informant interviews, focus group discussions and case studies of 12 women beneficiaries.
Evaluation methodology
Mixed
Programme targets
The Project was designed to seek inputs from and incorporate local knowledge of community groups where the women development centers were to be sited. Representatives of villages and women's associations and communities were to be consulted to gauge their interests, concerns, suggestions, and commitment to ensure project ownership and involvement.
The women development centers were to be developed as self-autonomous entities which rely on their own revenue streams to finance operations. During implementation, they were to be trained to market WDC products and services; form partnerships with donors and NGOs; and employ a fee-for-service approach.
Results achieved
Two centers in Siem Reap and Kampong Chhnang were completed and equipped with furniture and equipment in time for the inauguration on 11 Feb 2010. Five commune producer group buildings in Siem Reap and Kampong Chhnang were completed by May 2010. Training activities under the life skills/advocacy and MSME components were completed, including handicraft product development, food processing, materials for training-of-trainers, and village and community workshops across a range of subjects.
